This resource offers materials on the multicultural past of Cyprus. It invites teachers and pupils to discover the intercultural traditions, histories and people of the island. This resource can be used for developing tolerance and understanding in students when dealing with the topic of migration, for example. It provides teachers with materials on how to teach students about cultural diversity through history and helps pupils to acquire skills such as critical thinking and independent conclusion-drawing.
The resource is a collection of interactive cards, produced in collaboration with practising Cypriot teachers, intended for creative use by both teachers and pupils. It is an open model which seeks to arouse the curiosity of teachers and pupils alike, motivating them to think and carry out further independent research on the topic.
The resource can be used during initial training as well as in-service training of history teachers working with pupils of different age groups: primary, secondary and upper-secondary schools. It will also interest those who focus on intercultural learning or the history of Cyprus.
