This unit can be a part of a whole school project on themes such as 'personal and social education', 'citizenship education' or 'respect for self and others'. The activities deal with issues of discrimination and invite participants to discuss the right to be different. It also emphasises the role of the teacher, who can make a significant (positive or negative) difference to their students’ lives and their community.

The unit, developed within the Pestalozzi Programme, can be used at initial and in-service training of teachers in all levels of education.
