This training unit focuses on the way in which the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) taught and learnt in high school, can shape/change students’ world views. It also shows how world knowledge can ensure that a lot of new, controversial issues (e.g. cloning, trans-gene organisms) are understood correctly. The training unit highlights complex approaches to phenomena that lead to greater responsibility by scientists, regarding their discoveries, and the way these breakthroughs can be used for the benefit of humankind.
The unit, developed within the Pestalozzi Programme, can be used at initial and in-service training of teachers of Upper Secondary education.
