Back Gender and sexuality stereotypes in textbook images

This training resource analyses gender and sexuality stereotypes textbook images. Presented activities, alongside guidance questions, help learners to recognise prejudice, stereotypes and bias in textbook illustrations and identify their meaning and purpose. Children spend the majority of their time in a classroom with textbooks which are widely used by teachers for their instructional decisions, thus a critical understanding of the context and images of textbooks, and the meaning that is delivered to students, are highly important for both the reinforcement against, and the deconstruction of, gender stereotypes.

This training resource contains different forms of discussions, poster presentations and analyses of images, and is designed to be used by teachers and trainers of children of all ages as well as adults.
