Back How to develop the ability of students to assess information from media and social networks?

This publication is the outcome of a project funded by the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Programme “Democratic and Inclusive School Culture in Operation (DISCO)”. For more information please visit the website of the Joint Programme: www.coe.int/disco

This resource was developed through the results of a pilot project entitled “Teacher training in citizenship and human rights education – how to develop the ability of students to assess information from media and social networks?” It offers the findings that were collected during the implementation of the project as well as the lesson plans, teaching materials and its practical tools for teaching students critical observation skills for media and online information. Thus, these materials offer teachers the knowledge and skills to work in an environment influenced by media and social networks, thereby providing them with an in–service training programme and the methodological tools to assist students in critical evaluation of media and social networks information.

The resource is designed to be used by teachers and trainers in various school and university subjects in order to deepen analytical and critical observation skills in the online environments of their students.

The resource is also available in Estonian, Latvian, Russian and Lithuanian.
