Back Living through a storm

This resource is designed within the Pestalozzi Programme for teaching training sessions which raise awareness on the topics of cultural and social diversity in classrooms and schools. The material centres around footage of a storm at sea which draws different reactions from people based on their previous experiences, personality, cultural and linguistic differences.

In working through these concepts, teachers become more aware of different reactions to the same experience and the importance of finding out what causes the difference in perception and expression. The insight gained from this training unit can be transferred to the daily work of practitioners to better understand their learners’ behavior and reactions. Practitioners can also adapt the material for classroom use to raise students’ awareness towards understanding and accepting the differences between individuals, in addition to enhancing open-mindedness and fostering the development of multiple perspectives.
