This training resource focuses on helping educators to understand the role of schools in teaching and empowering children on issues related to sex/sexuality, health and social and emotional development. This training delivers comprehensive approaches to sex and sexuality by providing theoretical and methodological backgrounds.
The training unit provides participants with the knowledge of how to set goals in sexual education that are appropriate to the age of children, avoiding racism, victim blaming, and exclusion. This training unit also gives the opportunity for self-reflection, after shaking off some taboos, and deconstructing social and cultural myths about gender roles, sex and sexuality.
The training unit can be beneficial for teachers of children of the age from 6 to 12, as it is empowers teachers with skills on how to address sexuality issues with children. It contains activities such as debates, drawing, discussion, pair and group work.
