Strasbourg: On 31 May 2024, the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities adopted a new Thematic Commentary on Education under the Framework Convention, revising and replacing the Thematic Commentary No. 1 (2006).
This Thematic Commentary sets out the Advisory Committee’s interpretation of the provisions of the Framework Convention relevant for education and draws on its country-specific opinions as well as on its three further Thematic Commentaries. It aims to provide a practical tool for state authorities and decision makers at all levels, public officials, minority and other civil society organisations, persons affiliating with national minorities, academics and other stakeholders involved in ensuring quality and inclusive education for all.
The launch event for the Thematic Commentary No. 1 on Education (2024) will take place in a hybrid format during the 84th Plenary Session of the Advisory Committee on 17 October 2024 in Strasbourg. French-English interpretation will also be provided.
The new Thematic Commentary will be published on this website on 17 October. A printed version will also be made available to participants at the launch event.
