A follow-up meeting concerning the Fifth Opinion on the Slovak Republic of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities is being organised today by the Government Office of the Slovak Republic and the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Government for National Minorities in Bratislava. The meeting is gathering experts of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention, the Secretariat, representatives of national minorities and experts from academia to discuss the implementation of the recommendations adopted by the Advisory Committee in the last monitoring cycle. Special emphasis is placed on the cultures and languages of national minorities, education and effective participation. The meeting is also the perfect opportunity to welcome the official recognition of the Vietnamese as the 14th national minority in the Slovak Republic.
