A follow-up meeting concerning the Fifth Opinion on Sweden of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities is being organised today in Stockholm by the Ministry of Culture of Sweden. The meeting, opened by the State-Secretary to Minister for Culture, Karin Svanborg-Sjövall, is gathering the First Vice-President and the Executive Secretary of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention, relevant public authorities and representatives of national minorities to discuss the implementation of the recommendations adopted by the Advisory Committee in the last monitoring cycle. Special emphasis is placed on education and measures promoting knowledge of minorities, combating discrimination, racism and hate crimes and participation of minorities representatives in decision-making.
