Back Training on “Forensic Photography”

On 28-30 October 2016 Council of Europe in co-operation with the Public Defender’s Office (PDO) of Georgia organized training on “Forensic Photography”. From September 1, 2016, based on the amendments made to article 60 of the Imprisonment Code, the Public Defender and members of the Special Preventive Group are authorized to take photos of prisoners’ bodily injuries and material conditions in the penitentiary facilities. In order to fully realize this authority, a follow up three-day training was held on the issues of photography for the employees of the Department of Prevention and Monitoring, the Department of Criminal Justice and the Regional Department of the Public Defender’s Office. As a result of the training participants further increased awareness on basic principles of photography, how to work with a photo camera and technical means of photo editing. Moreover, participants were well informed about regulatory rules of taking photos in the penitentiary facilities and procedures of filling in relevant documents. The training was organized within the framework of the Project “Improving the Operational Capacities of Public Defender’s Office of Georgia”
