“Cycling for Refugees”
Description: Organised by Greenways Social Co-operative Enterprise, with the support of a group of students from the University of Macedonia participating in the ErasmusPlus project Social Entrepreneurship and Educational Practices SE+ED, an initiative was taken to promote the Cycling for Refugees programme, a voluntary project from Greenways SCE to make bicycles and safe cycling courses available to refugees in order to provide more opportunities for physical activity, mobility and social interaction. Cycling for Refugees was created after the voluntary project, Learn How to Cycle with Safety for developing and documenting a theory of change for the initiative, building constructive partnerships and strengthening the competences of instructors in physical activity for children and women from an immigrant or refugee background. Cycling for Refugees and students’ activities before and during the Action Day for Refugees and Asylum Seekers were presented as part of their project database and also at their project conference. A number of publications and case studies were published following the project.
