The Hate Destroyer in Finland
Description: The Finnish No Hate Speech Movement “Ei vihapuheelle” participated in the Flow Festival 2013 in Helsinki with the German Hate Destroyer Irmela Mensah-Schramm. Mensah-Schramm is a pensioner who has spent decades roaming the streets of Berlin and removing or revising every item graffiti, sticker and poster inciting discrimination or hatred she has come across. At the Flow Festival, the NHSM campaign in Finland produced a communal anti-hate work of art together with the Hate Destroyer, Finnish artists and the festival crowd. Offensive and racist symbols vanished when thousands of festival-goers left their messages supporting equality and approval on the anti-hate wall.
Country: Finland.
