Gearing up for Hackathon on inclusion and digital citizenship in Podgorica

High school students from across Montenegro gathered on 11 October 2024 for an Info Day on the upcoming Hackathon on inclusion and digital citizenship. Organised by the Council of Europe’s Programme Office and the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, the event introduced participants to the Hackathon’s goals, application process, and the mentorship that will be provided to teams throughout the competition.

The event was organised on Inclusion Day, with the aim of promoting the concept of inclusive education as a principle of reform, celebrated in Montenegrin schools on 11 October. Inclusion Day focuses on highlighting the importance of quality education accessible to all students, regardless of background.  In this light, participants were encouraged to engage in discussions on how education can promote social justice and break down stereotypes.

Miloš Bošković, Senior Project Officer for "Quality Education for All in Montenegro," highlighted the importance of inclusive education and the development of digital solutions that contribute to creating a safer and fairer school and online environment for all students.

Radivoje Drobnjak, representative of the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, explained the Hackathon format, including the support participants will receive to bring their ideas to life.

Applications for the Hackathon will open next week, and high school students across Montenegro are invited to participate and propose innovative solutions.

The event was organised as part of the project "Quality Education for All," which is part of the joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe, "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey."
