The Pompidou Group is participating in the 68th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) of the United Nations from 10 to 14 March 2025 in Vienna, Austria.
As part of its contribution, its Italian Presidency issued a statement on behalf of the Pompidou Group, during the first plenary meeting. The statement highlights key developments from the past year and major advancements in its work on drug policies. Notably, the Pompidou Group adopted policy guidelines on human rights and drug policies and on online gaming and gambling risks.
On 10 March 2025, the Pompidou Group is organising a side event titled "Aligning drug and addiction policies with human rights commitments and obligations", with support from Belgium, Czechia, Malta, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The event provides a platform of discussions on how drug policies could be more effectively aligned with human rights obligations, promoting more humane and effective approaches to addressing drug use, addiction, and related challenges.
Additionally, the Pompidou Group is co-sponsoring several parallel events throughout the session.
