80 participants from 28 countries along with EMCDDA and UNODC attended the seminar on drug prevention and youth hosted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Anti Drug Policy from Italy in Palazzo Francetti, Venice. This was the first event organized under Italian PG 2023-2025 Presidency. The participation of 2 Ministers, 1 Deputy Ministers and 2 State Secretaries showed that prevention of drug use among young people is a priority for the government of Italy and that inter-ministerial and interagency cooperation at all levels : local, national and international is a prerequisite. After presentation of Italian experience in different settings by local organisations working on the field, PG countries shared information on their prevention strategies which are implemented following evidence based instruments such as ESPAD, EMCDDA and UNODC standards. The recent initiative by PG to work on children and families affected by parental drug use and the presentation of 4 new publications were commended.
