The Congress will hold the first part of its 40th Session, 23-24 March 2021. The session will be held remotely, given the current COVID-19 health crisis.
The Congress will elect its President, and the Presidents and Vice-Presidents of its chambers of local and regional authorities. It will decide on its priorities for 2021-2026 (co-rapporteurs Gunn Marit Helgesen (Norway, EPP/CCE) and Xavier Cadoret (France, SOC/G/DP) and its Budget for the next biennium (co-rapporteurs Anna Magyar (Hungary, EPP/CCE) and Barbara Toce (Italy, SOC/G/PD).
The Congress will also consider a report on “Ensuring the respect of the European Charter on Local Self-Government in major crisis situations” (co-rapporteurs Leendert Verbeek (Netherlands, SOC/G/PD) and Robert-Csongor Grüman (Romania, EPP/CCE) and exchange views with German Minister of State for Europe, Michael Roth, on the priorities and activities of the German Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The Monitoring, Governance and Current Affairs committees of the Congress will meet in parallel and elect their chairs and vice-chairs on this occasion.
