The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which came to a close on Saturday evening, saw a total of 7 co-productions supported by the Eurimages Fund with 9 prizes.
In official competition, the GRAND PRIX was awarded to Atlantique by Mati Diop (FR, SN, BE) and the prize for BEST DIRECTOR to the Dardenne brothers for Le jeune Ahmed (BE, FR), whereas the PRIZE FOR BEST ACTRESS was awarded to Emily Beecham for Little Joe by Jessica Hausner (AT, UK, DE) and the co-production It must be heaven (FR, DE, CA, TR) by Elia Suleiman received the SPECIAL MENTION OF THE JURY as well as the FIPRESCI PRIZE.
The jury of the CAMERA D’OR, presided by Rithy Panh, rewarded unanimously César Díaz for Nuestras Madres (BE, FR), a first film presented at the Critic’s Week.
In the section Un Certain Regard, the JURY PRIZE was awarded to the film Viendra le feu by Oliver Laxe (ES, FR, LU) and in the Critic’s Week, the GAN FOUNDATION AWARD FOR DISTRUBITON was given to Vivarium by Lorcan Finnegan (IE, BE, DK) and the SACD AWARD to César Díaz, author of Nuestras Madres (BE, FR).
Eurimages celebrated its 30th anniversary in the presence of the President of the Fund, Ms Catherine Trautmann, her predecessor Mr Jobst Plog and the Executive Director Mr Roberto Olla at a reception organised in co-operation with the Producers Network on Saturday 18 May at the Plage des Palmes.
The Eurimages Fund is delighted with these awards which pay tribute to international co-productions: through these works, the Fund demonstrates its commitment to cinematographic creation and once again confirms the value of the Eurimages label.
