The Council of Europe is organising a Conference of high-ranking representatives of Ministers of Internal Affairs in Strasbourg on 24 and 25 September to highlight new measures enabling the police to fight domestic violence more effectively.
Bringing together police officers, associations and experts, this conference will allow the exchange of experiences and good practices between countries that have improved the protection of women victims of domestic violence and to study mechanisms to detect, prevent and combat this plague.
The purpose is to reduce the number of women killed by their spouses or ex-spouses but also to strengthen confidence in the police.
