The 13th Board Meeting of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) was held on 10 June in Berlin, Germany and focused on the preparation of ERIAC’s strategy, 2026-2030. Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge emphasised that “7 years after its launch in Berlin, on 8 June 2017, the work of ERIAC is all the more crucial for promoting Roma inclusion, combating antigypsyism and democratic backsliding, and for highlighting and promoting Roma arts and culture. I particularly welcome today’s thorough discussions on further institutional reforms and on concrete steps for ERIAC’s future Strategy”.
Several other achievements from this year were presented to the Board, including in ERIAC’s panel discussion on “Roma in filmmaking” at Cannes Film Festival 2024; the contribution to the Venice Biennale session 2024 on 70 years of the Council of Europe Cultural Convention as well as plans for the 80th commemoration of the Roma Holocaust.
