In a landmark celebration of six decades of co-operation, excellence and leadership, the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), part of the Council of Europe, is set to host its 60th anniversary conference on 11 and 12 June 2024, under the theme “Today, tomorrow, together for public health”. This high-level event is open for registration and will be held at the Palais de l’Europe in Strasbourg.
Since its inception, the Council of Europe has played a groundbreaking role in public health in Europe by laying the foundations of a standard-setting and co-operation framework, pursuing the aim of protecting and improving the health of European citizens and their communities. Building upon this, the organisation has evolved into a significant presence in the field of public health, with many of its activities now centralised under the auspices of the EDQM.
According to EDQM Director Petra Doerr, “Looking back on 60 years of history in public health protection, the EDQM acknowledges that more than ever, today‘s and tomorrow‘s public health challenges and opportunities can only be addressed with collaboration and togetherness.”
