Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission today attended the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe for an exchange of views on relations between the two organisations.
Prior to the exchange of views, High Representative Mogherini spoke to Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland in a bilateral meeting, focussing mainly on the situation in Turkey. Mr Jagland briefed Ms Mogherini on the role of the Council of Europe regarding developments in the member state. Both emphasised the fact that the Council of Europe’s legal standards and approach remain key to its relations with Turkey.
