On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the Additional Protocol to the European Social Charter Providing for a System of Collective Complaints (ETS No. 158) in 1998, the Department of Social Rights will host an event to discuss effective social rights protection in the European space.

The event will provide space for a diverse range of leading stakeholders (governments, social partners, civil society, academia, other national and international bodies) to share their experience, challenges and good practices in using the collective complaints procedure to signal situations of possible non-implementation of the Charter in the countries concerned.

Opening remarks will be made by Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge, EU Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore, Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović among other high level participants.

The event will be streamed live (in English and French) on the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) website and via the Council of Europe Facebook account.
