Gaël Martin-Micallef

Gaël Martin-Micallef has been working as a legal advisor at the Secretariat of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (better known as the Venice Commission,) for 18 years. The Venice Commission is a consultative body of the Council of Europe specialised in constitutional engineering. In this respect, Gaël Martin-Micallef is specialised in constitutional law and more precisely in electoral law and law dealing with political parties and financing of political parties and electoral campaigns. He graduated from Paris and Strasbourg universities with Masters’ degrees in law and political science.

Former Rapporteur for France’s National Commission for Campaign Accounts and Political Financing, Gaël Martin-Micallef is also a former elected municipal councillor and publication Co-ordinator of a handbook on elections in France issued in 2007. He lectures in various French and international institutions and universities.
