Dr Serageldin is the Founding Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the new Library of Alexandria, and an advisor to the Egyptian Prime Minister in matters concerning culture, science and museums.
He charts the rise of Islamic extremism and radicalisation, and explores ways in which people of peace can work together to counter the trend. He points to the Council of Europe's concept of 'democratic security' as a useful tool and calls for a change of the historical narrative.
