As part of the Gender Equality Tour de France, the French Minister for European Affairs, Nathalie Loiseau, and the State Secretary with responsibility for gender equality, Marlène Schiappa, will be discussing equality between men and women with 300 students and young people following vocational training on Wednesday 13 December at the Council of Europe (Strasbourg).
The discussions will focus on the fight against gender stereotypes and sexism in education, the employment world, the media, on the internet and in social networks.
The meeting will hear statements and proposals to improve gender equality and show how France is drawing on and applies the Council of Europe’s standards in this field.
Council of Europe speakers will include the Deputy Secretary General, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, and the Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks.
Elected representatives and representatives of associations will also take part.
The Council of Europe will present a new gender equality strategy in May 2018.
