The Council of Europe’s anti-torture committee (CPT) has published the report on its ad hoc visit to the United Kingdom in November 2022, together with the response of the UK authorities.
The focus of the visit was to examine the treatment of foreign nationals arriving by small boat in the UK after crossing the English Channel.
A CPT delegation visited the Western Jet Foil disembarkation site and the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility, where migrants are first held and processed, as well as the Kent Intake Unit in Dover for unaccompanied and separated children.
