Election observation delegations of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament were invited by the Azeri authorities to observe the Presidential election held on 9 October 2013. The delegations congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the peaceful campaign and election day, and on a free, fair and transparent electoral process.

They stressed that the will of the authorities of Azerbaijan to have a large presence of national and international observers for the 2013 presidential election was commendable. Electoral procedures on the eve and on election day have been carried out in a professional and peaceful way, accompanied by the sound technical preparations and the investment made by the Azeri authorities for this election.
