Secretary General Jagland today met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
They discussed the increasing cooperation between the Council of Europe and the European Union and areas of common concern. Secretary General Jagland highlighted the significance of the Council of Europe Ministerial Meeting on 17 May in Helsinki, in particular proposals to overcome the impasse over Russia’s representation in the Parliamentary Assembly. The situation in Turkey and the volume of Turkish cases at the European Court of Human Rights were also discussed.
