Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE and Minister for Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani. Underlining the longstanding positive relationship between the Council of Europe and the OSCE, the Secretary General and Chairman in Office stressed the importance of further intensifying cooperation between the two organisations, thereby strengthening multilateralism and the rules-based international order. More frequent high-level meetings between the OSCE and the Council of Europe would contribute to this objective, they noted.
The Secretary General expressed her appreciation of the North Macedonia OSCE chairmanship and its aim to manage and prevent conflicts and to alleviate suffering by placing “the people at the heart of its work.” Other topics discussed at the meeting included the Russian Federation’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the co-operation between the Council of Europe and the OSCE in different countries.
