Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi.
The meeting focused on the follow-up to the Reykjavik Summit, including the Register of Damage, and the organisation’s forthcoming 75th anniversary, highlighting the relevance of multilateralism and intergovernmental co-operation. Gender equality issues and preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence were also discussed.
The Secretary General reaffirmed the Council of Europe readiness to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova in its ongoing reform efforts and EU accession path.
Ahead of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Popșoi signed a voluntary contribution in support of the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission and of the organisation's action to end violence against women and domestic violence.
