Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on the occasion of the Minister’s visit to the Council of Europe and her speech at the Parliamentary Assembly.
The Secretary General thanked Ms Baerbock for Germany’s political and financial support to the Council of Europe, they agreed the forthcoming Summit was an historic opportunity to reinforce Council of Europe values.
The Secretary General confirmed the Council of Europe is working with Ukraine and other international institutions to develop a comprehensive system of accountability for Russia. They also discussed Belarus, specifically Council of Europe support for the country's civil society and democratic forces through the work of the Belarus-Council of Europe Contact Group.
