Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met the President of the Federal Council of Austria Günter Kovacs to discuss the upcoming Council of Europe Summit of the Heads of State and Government in Reykjavik (16th – 17th May). Marking 67 years of Austria having joined the Council of Europe, the Secretary General praised Austria’s enduring and strong commitment to the values and standards of the organisation as essential for stability in Europe.
They also discussed the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the role the Council of Europe can play to develop a comprehensive and effective system of accountability.
