“The Légion d'honneur is a recognition of efforts made, but it is also a call to continue to strive tirelessly for peace, justice, and solidarity between peoples. Today, these values are more necessary than ever. In receiving this award today, I reaffirm my commitment to continuing this work with the same determination and dedication. This honour reminds me that we all have a responsibility to future generations to leave them a united, free, and prosperous Europe, where the rights of every individual are respected and protected”, declared Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić while receiving the Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour) at a ceremony at the Permanent Representation of France to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
“Mr Ambassador Pap Ndiaye, I would like to take this opportunity to salute your commitment and that of your country to the Council of Europe. Your unwavering support for our initiatives to strengthen human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe is essential. I think in particular of the fight against all forms of inequality, including through education, the promotion of social justice, and the protection of the rights of the most vulnerable - subjects that are dear to us both”, highlighted Marija Pejčinović Burić.
The Légion d'honneur has been awarded by the French Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Pap Ndiaye.
