Over 150 experts from across Europe are taking part today in a conference to mark ten years since the Council of Europe convention against trafficking in human beings entered into force.
Among representatives of various international organisations, national authorities and NGOs, participants will include:
- “Maria”, a survivor of human trafficking
- Ms Fareeda Abbas, Yazidi Genocide Survivor
- Siobhán Mullally, President of GRETA
- Madina Jarbussynova, OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings
- Anna Ochoa, Organization of American States
A new publication on the “Impact of GRETA’s monitoring” will be presented at the event, which will focus on how the convention has helped victims of human trafficking, its impact on policies and practices across Europe and challenges that remain.
