The Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (CAHROM) will be working towards one of the priorities of the French Presidency of the Committee of Ministers at its meeting from 11 to 14 June in Toulouse.
High on its agenda will be a draft recommendation on the inclusion of Roma and/or Travellers’ history in school curricula and teaching materials.
France has made history teaching in Europe a priority for its Chairmanship, as history should foster a feeling of shared belonging and not nurture antagonisms.
The Committee will also review implementation of the Thematic Action Plan on the Inclusion of Roma and Travellers (2016-2019) and discuss the latest developments at national and international level as well as the collection of data on hate crimes against Roma.
