At the invitation of France’s President Emmanuel Macron, Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland is taking part in the ceremonies to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War on 11 November in Paris.
Together with other heads of state, government and international organisations, he is also participating in the opening of the Paris Peace Forum, a new annual event “to reflect on world governance while we commemorate the end of World War I and recognise our collective responsibility”, according to the words of the French President.
