The PC-CP WG held its 37th meeting in Malta on 4-6 February 2025, hosted by the Maltese prison and probation services. The meeting was opened by Ms Joyce Dimech, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment of Malta. The agenda included work on a draft CM Recommendation on Education in Prison and its draft Explanatory Memorandum as well as discussing the scope and updating of Committee of Ministers’ Recommendation CM/Rec(2012)12 concerning Foreign Prisoners. The title, the contents and presenters at the 30th CDPPS Conference (24-25 September 2025, Poland) were also discussed with the future Polish hosts. On 6 February the participants visited the Prison in Malta and took note of the information provided by its Governor, Mr Christopher Siegersma, and his staff. On 7 February Ms Carla Ciavarella, PC-CP WG member and Ms Ilina Taneva, Secretary to the PC-CP, lectured the trainees in their new and modern training centre and discussed treatment of prisoners and relations among prison staff members.
