CEPEJ experts visiting pilot courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Following the first coaching session at the Sokolac first instance Court this summer, the experts of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) visited two other pilot courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Brčko District Court (first instance) and the Cazin Municipal Court (first instance), from 8 to 9 November 2023 and delivered the first coaching session for staff of these courts.

The CEPEJ experts have exchanged with presidents, judges and staff of these courts on main challenges faced in the fields of efficiency and quality of justice, including court performance, data collection and judicial statistics, judicial time management, workload of judges, quality of justice services for the users. These visits will also serve as an opportunity to present the CEPEJ methodology on coaching and raise awareness on available CEPEJ tools and good practices.

These visits would serve as a basis for recommendations in the areas of efficiency and quality of justice issues, to be proposed to the pilot courts for implementation in early 2024.

This activity was organised by the action “Strengthening the efficiency and quality of justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHSEJ)”, which is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme entitled "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye".
