A specialised training workshop was held this week in Banja Luka, providing lawyers with insights into the application of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) within the domestic legal framework. The educational workshop aimed to reinforce the participants’ knowledge and skills for consistent and adequate implementation of ECHR standards in Bosnia and Herzegovina, further contributing to the advancement of human rights and the rule of law.
The training focused on key aspects and the ECHR’s role in domestic law. Through a series of practical exercises, participants explored the admissibility criteria for cases brought before the BiH Constitutional Court, ensuring a deeper understanding of current procedures and best practices.
A total of 16 lawyers who took part in the workshop highlighted the significance of such initiatives in continuous bolstering of human rights protections. By fostering a greater understanding of European human rights standards, this and other similar activities contribute to the strengthening of domestic legal mechanisms and adherence to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international obligations.
The workshop was carried out as part of the Council of Europe project Support to a coherent national implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights and facilitating the execution of judgements of the European Court of Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is funded under the Action plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2022-2025.
