On 23 November 2023 in Sarajevo, the Council of Europe organised a discussion on the introduction of case law departments in appellate courts.
The starting point of the discussion was the draft Report on the need to establish the case law departments at second-instance courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), prepared by consultants of the Council of Europe on the basis of information gathered from second-instance courts in BiH.
This event gathered the representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council in BiH and second-instance courts in BiH who welcomed the findings of the draft Report and complemented them with few other suggestions pertinent to successful implementation of the recommendations. In the upcoming period the Project team will conduct consultations with relevant authorities to ensure the follow up of the recommendations provided in the Report.
This event is part of the Project’s ongoing efforts to provide assistance to the national authorities in strengthening legal certainty at the national level.
The discussion was organised within the framework of the project "Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in BiH – Phase III".
