On the occasion of the process of developing the new anti-trafficking strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2024-2027, the Council of Europe anti-trafficking project organised two meetings to discuss and provide to domestic authorities contributions from non-governmental organisations, and relevant public and private bodies.

An exchange with anti-trafficking non-governmental organisations was held on 23 November in Sarajevo. The 16 participants representing the Association „Novi početak“ - Gradiška, the Association of Roma Women „Bolja budućnost“ - Tuzla, the Association „Zemlja djece u BiH“ - Tuzla, IFS EMMAUS - Sarajevo, the Association „Novi put“ - Mostar, the Center for human rights - Mostar, the Association for education and development „Dignitet“ - Mostar, the Association „Žene sa Une“ - Bihać, and the Center of Women's Rights - Zenica, discussed their role and ways to be further involved in the domestic action against human trafficking.

Consultations on the role of the business and financial sector in the prevention and detection of human trafficking took place on 28 November in Sarajevo. The 12 professionals representing financial institutions, labour inspectorates, tax inspectorates, business associations, chambers of commerce and trade unions at the state and entity levels discussed how businesses and financial bodies could work with public institutions and make their contribution to the fight against modern slavery.

The recommendations developed during the two meetings were presented to the Working Group of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina for consideration during the development of the new antitrafficking strategy.

The Council of Europe anti-trafficking project “Strengthening anti-trafficking action in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is funded by voluntary contributions in the framework of the Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2022-2025).
