First meeting of the newly established Minority Coordination Group

Newly established Minority Coordination Group is having its first meeting today in Sarajevo. The main aim of the group is to strengthen communication and coordination between relevant actors who are directly involved in the protection of the rights of national minorities resulting with concrete measures. Chaired by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees BiH, today’s topic is the current situation of the horizontal and vertical cooperation and coordination among relevant stakeholders and possible ways of improvement.

Minority Coordination core group is composed of representatives from the Council of National Minorities BiH, Council of National Minorities RS, Council of National Minorities FBiH, Roma Board, Brčko Government BiH, Council of National Minorities Canton Sarajevo, Joint Committee on Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly BiH and Alliance of National Minorities of RS and Alliance of National Minorities of BiH.  

This is the first time that such a meeting of various representatives is organised. Further meetings of the Group and capacity buildings are planned, with the final aim to improve the state of national minorities in BiH.

Setting up of the Minority Coordination Group and implementing their meeting is part of the Action “Strengthening the protection of national minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina” within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey.
