The annual international campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” kicks off every 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. It aims to ensure global action to increase awareness, galvanise advocacy efforts and share knowledge and innovations to end violence against women.

This year’s theme, “Every 11 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women”, is a reminder of the grim reality facing women around the world.

In solidarity with this global movement the staff of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje has been accessorising with orange over the last two weeks to support this awareness-raising initiative and thus join the global movement for the elimination of violence against women.
