In-Depth Focus Groups Reflected Progress in Education Strategy Implementation

Recent focus groups organised by the Council of Europe’s "Quality Education for All" project funded by the Germany, have played a pivotal role in conducting a thorough analysis of the educational landscape, aiming to enhance the democratic culture, equality, and inclusion in education. These sessions were carefully aligned with the Mapping analysis for the implementation of The Education Strategy 2018-2025 and the corresponding Action Plan.

One of the central outcomes of these sessions is to ensure that education policymakers, institutions, and professionals actively apply the existing policy framework to guarantee inclusive and high-quality education for all. This significant progress is driven by two key outputs: the development of a Mapping Report and policy recommendations on the implementation of the Education Strategy and Action Plan, with a specific focus on democratic culture, human rights, and inclusive and multicultural education.

At the policy level, the project aims to enhance the capacity of policymakers to design inclusive and democratic education policies that align with the Education Strategy (2018-2025). This mapping activity will help with paving the way for targeted interventions.

To ensure comprehensive input and feedback, major stakeholders have been encouraged to be actively involved in our project. A series of well-organised focus groups were conducted to present the initial draft findings. This interactive approach allowed participants to provide valuable insights and perspectives, significantly enriching the project's direction.

The three focus groups held from 24 to 26 October 2023 were instrumental in driving these efforts forward. These sessions featured a focus group with Steering Committee members that played a crucial role in shaping educational policy direction, collaboration with selected pilot schools that contributed to inclusive and multicultural education, and municipal representatives who came together to strengthen the local educational collaboration.

These focus groups served as catalysts for in-depth discussions, thoroughly exploring the findings of the analysis of documentation related to measures and activities since the adoption of the national education strategy. Through these collaborative efforts, the future of education holds potential, offering a clear path toward a more inclusive and high-quality education accessible to all.
