Back Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Good Governance Policies and the working group responsible for drafting legal provisions for controlling inexplicable wealth

On 28 February 2022, the working group responsible for drafting the legal framework on non-conviction based confiscation had a meeting with the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Good Governance Policies, with the aim to present their work so far and to discuss the draft legal framework.
Representatives of the working group informed the Deputy Prime Minister about the steps that were undertaken within this activity that is supported by the Action against Economic Crime. Areas of particular focus of the discussion included the assessment of the legal framework in the Republic of North Macedonia, the study developed by the Action against Economic Crime for potential legislative solutions, the benefits and priority of introducing non-conviction based confiscation as an effective tool and the advance of the drafting process. Some of the distinctive features of the draft legislation were underlined and an agreement was reached to hold one final meeting to clarify the remaining outstanding questions before submitting the draft to national authorities for further processing.
