Roma internally displaced persons camp
[February 2008] Three colleagues, who were touched by the plight of thousands of internally displaced persons of Roma origin living in unregistered camps in Serbia have recently organised collections of clothes as well as money to buy wood for the heating and for the transportation of clothes. Three convoys have already been successfully sent to Serbia. The distribution of clothes donated is being carried out by the Belgrade office of the High Commissioner for Refugees. Since the needs of the people living in the camps are enormous, Entraide-solidarity has decided to finance the fourth transportation and to combine its efforts with Amicale Femmes and "Présence Association" in collecting more clothes and sending them to the camps.
Furniture for a boarding school in Bolivia
[May 2008] All it needed was a final helping hand to see through the project and open a boarding school in Siporo, Bolivia. The Association "Voix Libres" turned to our Association Entraide-Solidarity to obtain the last funds needed to buy furniture and get the boarding school up and running. The creation of this school will help about a hundred children avoid the drama of rural exodus which each year takes more and more children and young people down into the mines. Moreover, this project is based on a sustainable development approach.
Abandoned children in Bulgaria
[May 2008] A project in Bulgaria run by the "Bonne Mine" Association aiming at offering a structured framework for young orphans after leaving the orphanage was welcomed with great interest by the Association Entraide-Solidarity. It was decided to contribute to covering part of the costs of this structure whose objective is to help the young people lead an independent life. The Association will pay the salaries for one year of an IT and maths teacher and a teacher specialised in assisting young people with mental difficulties.

Medical material for Palestine
[July 2008] For one year, the Farrah France Association has sent over 100 tonnes of medical material to handicapped persons in Palestinian medical structures. The material comes from an integration society (Savoir et Compétences based in Illkirch-Graffenstaden in France) . This association repairs material recovered from hospitals, clinics or specialised organisations. The transport by container of 10 tonnes is carried out by a private society (Société Mondia).
Upon request by the Farrah France Association, the Entraide-Solidarity Association has made a subvention of 3650 euros to finance the transport of one container to port Ashdod where it will then come under the charge of the health services of the Palestinian authorities. The material is to be used in hospital services and rehabilitation centres for handicapped persons based in Cisjordanie in the Gaza area.

Construction of a little rural library in Malawi
[July 2008] The FOCHTA Association whose aim is to bring a sustainable, social and educational aid to the HIV victims in the Thyolo area in Malawi, has made a request to our Entraide-Solidarity Association for the funding of a construction of a rural library. This project, which plans to construct and provide the equipment of three rural libraries, will allow young people to have access to school books that are missing and to other information or leisure texts, such as novels or comics. This project will also facilitate the distribution of information related to health. In this area, dedicated mainly to tea-growing, nearly a quarter of the population is affected by the HIV virus, the consequence of which is millions of orphans.
For this project, the Entraide-Solidarity Association has donated the sum of 2000 euros for the construction of one of three rural libraries.
Solidarity project in Burkina Faso
[July 2008] In response to a request addressed to us by a group of five French scouts, the Association Entraide-Solidarity has decided to allocate a subvention of 400 euros to complete their solidarity/aid project abroad.
These five scouts will go to Burkina Faso in order to offer educational and scientific material as well as outdoor games to several schools there. Thanks to this mission that they will carry out in co-operation with the local association "Espace enfants" and with the Burkina Faso scouts, the five French scouts hope to exchange their knowledge and to build sustainable links with young African people.

Roma internally displaced persons camp (conclusions)
[July 2008] Initiated by three colleagues, this project aimed to deliver wood for heating, clothes and relief items to thousands of internally displaced persons, of Roma origin from Kosovo, living in Serbian camps.
To carry out this project, three Associations worked together. The Amicale Femmes organised the collection of clothes and the Entraide-Solidarity Association contributed 2000 euros for the transport. These two Associations also jointly organised a collection of money within the Council of Europe buildings, collecting around 1800 euros which allowed them to buy building materials for the camps and hygiene products.
Finally, members of the Association "Présence", accompanied by two of our colleagues, led the convoy of three vans to its destination. A journey of more than 4000 km through Germany, Austria and Hungary up to the camps in the South of Serbia. With the assistance of the Belgrade and Kraljevo offices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees the donated items were distributed in June to the Roma population living in the camps.
