CDENF examines implementation of CM recommendation on unaccompanied and separated migrant children

At its 9th Plenary meeting (28-30 May, the Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF) held the first examination of the implementation review report of Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)11 on effective guardianship for unaccompanied and separated children in the context of migration. The draft report was prepared on the basis of replies to a questionnaire shared with member states, and the comments received from relevant stakeholders. The CDENF members also heard an account of child consultations carried out in Cyprus and Portugal aimed at informing the implementation review report. The final draft, taking into account the main findings of these child consultations, comments and contributions from delegations, will be adopted by the CDENF during its 10th Plenary meeting in December 2024.

On 13 May, the Council of Europe project on Protecting the rights of Armenian children in a post-conflict context held its first Steering Committee meeting in Yerevan. Representatives of the Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs, Education and Science, Culture and Sport, Internal Affairs, Justice, Healthcare, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Human Rights Defender’s Office, Prosecutor General’s Office, Investigative Committee, and of the Chamber of Advocates were presented with the project objectives and expected outcomes, and discussed the work plan of activities and deliverables. The Armenian translation of the Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)11 of the Committee of Ministers on the Effective guardianship for unaccompanied and separated children in the context of migration was also introduced during the event.
