On 19-20 December 2022, the Council of Europe is organising a pilot training on Psychological Support to Refugees: Strengthening Professional Capacities in Warsaw, Poland. The aim of the event is to enhance the capacities of relevant professionals working on the ground to detect war-related traumas of mainly women and children from Ukraine and treat them adequately based on the expertise of the Council of Europe.
The training is organised by the Directorate of Political Affairs and External Relations of the Council of Europe, in close cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Migration and Refugees (SRSG) and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It gathers some 40 representatives from relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior and the Administration, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.
It is a follow-up to the SRSG´s report, in line with the Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Vulnerable Persons in the Context of Migration and Asylum in Europe (2021-2025). Other activities addressing in detail a range of aspects of psycho-social support are planned for next year.
