SRSG engages with PACE and CEB in Paris meetings

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) on Migration and Refugees, David Best, participated in the plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly’s (PACE) Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons in Paris, on 19-20 March.

He lauded the PACE Committee's efforts and emphasised the inclusivity of the discussions, recognising their significant role in advocating for a rights-based approach to migration, aligned with Council of Europe standards.

During his visit to the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) on March 12, the Special Representative held discussions with Vice-Governors Johannes Boehmer and Tomás Boček.

Reflecting on their meeting, the SRSG underscored the importance of collaborative efforts with the CEB in safeguarding the rights of migrants and asylum seekers, especially those in vulnerable situations.

In response, the Vice-Governors reiterated the CEB’s commitment to providing aid to migrants, refugees, and displaced persons, reaffirming that assistance to migrants, refugees and displaced persons remains at the core of Bank’s institutional mission and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation.
